Social Dreaming and Reflective Citizenship: At the Heart of Community Psychoanalysis

George Bermudez, Ph.D., Psy.D.

Saturday Nov 7, 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM

**Registration required to receive Zoom link

flyerDr. Bermudez presents a theoretical overview of “social dreaming” and hosts a social dreaming matrix, which provides access to the “social unconscious,” and illuminates awareness of organizational, community, and socio-political dynamics. "Social dreaming" is not about the dreamer and his or her dream—it is about the dream as a potential expression of unattended to, implicit or dissociated cultural, organizational, community and socio-political dynamics. Participants will reflect and dialogue on the dream content/associations that have emerged during the social dreaming matrix (SDM) and develop hypotheses about possible connections with wider social realities, whether historical, institutional, cultural, or global. The Reflection/Dialogue is a communal space dedicated to conscious reflection on our perceptions of emergent cross-cutting themes—especially those themes that seem to reflect larger cultural, social, and systemic issues. The SDM provides significant information that can inform community psychoanalysis, an emergent paradigm in 21st Century psychoanalysis, which expands the notion of psychoanalysis beyond the traditional frame to include larger human systems.
