The Brain in Therapy – an Introduction to Neuropsychoanalysis

This introductory lecture and panel discussion is geared to those interested in learning and understanding the intersection of neuroscience and psychoanalysis.

flyerDr. Maggie Zellner will provide a big picture overview of dynamic brain architecture as it relates to the psychotherapy process and therapeutic interventions. This lecture will focus on primary emotion systems, the effects of early emotional experiences on mentalization and affect regulation, and the neural circuits involved with working memory and fantasy. A panel offering multiple perspectives from the fields of clinical psychology, analysis, behavioral neuroscience, and social work will discuss how a neuropsychoanalytic perspective has impacted their work with individuals, families, and children. The morning will end with a discussion between the panel members and the audience.
