Focus On – Case Conference for Clinicians of Color

Finding your professional voice: a sociocultural exploration of clinical identity for clinicians of color

Mahima Muralidharan, PsyD

6 Tuesdays, September 18–October 23, 2018, 7:30-9:00pm

flyerIn this course, we will explore the multi-faceted world of practicing therapy as a self-identified clinician of color. Case material will provide the stimulus for us to explore the unique transference and countertransference dynamics that unfold in the therapeutic dyad within the context of race, class, gender and socio-political identity. Linking to concepts such as enactment, dissociation, dislocation, sociocultural ideology, and institutional/community racism, we will work to build a trusting group environment where detailed clinical material can be presented and explored.
