EB - Early Career Case Conference

East Bay

Wednesdays October 11 through May 2, 7:30pm–9:00pm
Opening Dinner October 4, 2017

We invite clinicians who have completed graduate school training and are pre-licensure or up to five years post-licensure to join this conference, led by experienced clinicians who are graduates of the Psychoanalytic Institute of Northern California. We will focus on case presentation, clinical discussion and community building. Readings relating to emerging clinical themes may be offered according to the interest of the participants and instructor. The cost is $200 for the yearlong program, with a new Community Membership. Community Members receive a regular newsletter and discounted or free admission to PINC lectures, and events, as well as a regular Visiting Scholar series.

Past participants in the ECCC have found this yearlong case conference to be an opportunity to get to know and network with other clinicians at similar stages of their careers. It has also been described as a way to learn from peers as well as from experienced clinicians who work with varying personal styles and within different psychoanalytically oriented frameworks. The continuity of working together over a number of weeks offers time for the group members to develop their capacity to think and work together to expand their clinical abilities. Psychoanalytic thinking is particularly relevant for clinicians working with attachment issues, early trauma, and people who are struggling with depression or high levels of anxiety.

Groups are limited to 10 participants. In addition to the 24 group sessions, there are introductory and a closing dinners at the home of one of the facilitators. We ask that you commit to attending all meetings (barring emergencies and unavoidable circumstances) so that an optimal work group can develop.

The Psychoanalytic Institute of Northern California strives to provide education and research in contemporary psychoanalysis in Northern California. As an interdisciplinary center for creative psychoanalytic thought, its members are committed to creating an atmosphere of intellectual excitement and mutual respect.
