with Jed Sekoff, Reyna Cowan and Shubha Herlekar

Saturday Apr. 22, 8:30 AM - 2:30 PM

Join us for a day with internationally renowned psychoanalytic therapist Anne Alvarez as we explore the effects of emotional neglect in clinical work.

flyerIn this daylong event, internationally renowned psychoanalytic scholar and therapist Anne Alvarez will present her paper The Role of Emotion in Thinking and the Effect of Emotional Neglect. Her elaboration of states of withdrawal, helplessness, and neglect, elucidates the importance of curiosity and active engagement on the part of the therapist. Her thinking is dynamic and synthetic, incorporating groundbreaking insights from infant research, neuropsychology, and psychoanalysis. Her contributions are of enormous clinical help to therapists working with children or the adults they grow into.

Jed Sekoff and Reyna Cowan will respond to Alvarez’s paper. Shubha Herlekar will present material from an adult treatment, further establishing the bridge from Alvarez’s ideas to clinical practice.
