Evening Colloquium with Prof Jan Abram

Evening Colloquium (open to the public)

Professor Jan Abram, in conversation with Jed Sekoff

Wednesday May 3, 7:30 PM – 9:00 PM

This is a hybrid event. You may attend in person or via zoom.

flyerProfessor Jan Abram will engage in dialogue with Dr. Jed Sekoff, using the images that illustrate psychic survival and non-survival from her new book, The Surviving Object: Psychoanalytic Clinical Essays on Psychic Survival-of-the-Object. Dr. Sekoff will present several images of his own, principally an early photograph/‘hello-graph’ (“sun-writing”) that Roland Barthes had commented upon, as well as some still life paintings and photographs of the early genre of “hidden mother”. His thinking comes from his paper titled: Apparitions of Still Life:  Absent Objects, Potential Objects and the Ghosts of Time.
