In anticipation of the week of presentations by PINC International Visiting Scholar Jan Abram, instructor Dr. Reyna Cowan will discuss Donald Winnicott's ground-breaking paper “The Use of an Object and Relating Through Identifications.” This paper provides the basis for Professor Abram's most recent book, The Surviving Object — Psychoanalytic Clinical Essays on psychic survival-of-the-object. In this pre-seminar, Dr. Cowan will discuss Winnicott's theoretical innovation and its clinical applications.
